Kakawasan Tribe Is Leading Young People to Come Back to Hometown
People in Kakawasan tribe grow rice, yet in recent years, the tribe starts to make a name for itself thanks to its shell-ginger leaf hats. These sturdy and stylish hats have attracted many retailers for business cooperation. Now, people in the tribe founded Kakawasan Cooperative and collaborated with other tribes to promote their products. According to Mr. Sung Po-Fang, the chairman of Kakawasan Cooperative, this business attracts young people to take part in producing shell-ginger leaf hats. Hence, more and more young people will return hometown and contribute to this tribal business.

Driftwood Brings Business Opportunities for Calavi Tribe
After Typhoon Morakot, it was shocking to see driftwood stacked on the coastline of Taitung. Yet, a pile of driftwood also provides job opportunities for Calavi (Duoliang) tribe. Founded on the Duo-Liang Elementary School with disuse, Sunrise Driftwood Workshop provides the most job opportunities for Calavi (Duoliang) tribe. The workshop offers them courses for woodworking from learning woods, designing and making.The workshop leads the way in tribal economy.

The Pleasant Smell Attracts People in New Immigrants' Magical Kitchen
Chiayi New Immigrant Women Caring Association is obviously a second home to many new immigrant women in Chiayi City. New immigrants from Vietnam, Indonesia and China are closely connected in the association. They understand and care for each other like family. “We would invite new immigrant women to participate in activities to meet new friends with similar backgrounds and relax themselves. They pour each other’s heart out and help each other overcome some adjustment problems.” The chairperson - Ms. Zhang Li-Mei took over the association from her predecessor Mr. Guo Gui-Ye. In addition to continuing its purposes, she sets concrete goals for the association’s development to operate the association well.

A Pavilion Stands Alone on the CaYaMaVana Mountainside
The annual Hufu (Pavilion) Festival just ended.There were still a few visitors strolling in Cayamavana tribe. Situated in Alishan Township, Chiayi County, Chashan is a community composed of indigenous Tsou, Bunun, and Chinese Han people and three settlements of Cayamavana, Yaviana, and Cucuu. Walking on the mountain trail, you will see a rustic and comfy pavilion stands alone by the river. Surrounded by cool breeze blowing and birds singing, some of small and large hufu (thatch pavilions) is waiting quietly for visitors.

Treat Every Foreigner well
On Sunday, A crowd sits in circles on the floor of the main hall of Taipei Main Station. They share their hometown food with others, celebrate a friend’s birthday, share details of their work with friends, and some of them just sit quietly. They are immigrant workers from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines, and they work as caregivers, labors and fishermen. “There are about a total of six hundred thousand immigrant workers in Taiwan. Therefore, our foundation is called One Forty – 1/40 of total Taiwanese population.”
